CFNA Credit Cards Branded for Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works Temporarily Not Accepted
Please read the following communication in its entirety.
CFNA has recently gone through a system conversion which includes a credit card reissue for cardholders who have a 9-digit CFNA Credit Card that is branded Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works. These cardholders will receive a 16-digit CFNA Credit Card with chip and expiration date. The reissue is currently underway and will continue until June. Your store’s CFNA branded credit card is not impacted by this change.
Action required:
- Ensure your retail location(s) are aware that if a CFNA cardholder tries to make a purchase with a 9-digit CFNA Credit Card that is branded Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works, the sale will be declined and a declined message will be returned.
- New CFNA 16-digit credit cards with a chip and expiration date are in the process of being reissued to customers to replace these 9-digit cards. The reissue will continue until June.
- If you are a location that processes CFNA with 1stMILE Pro (for all credit card processing including CFNA) and you have accepted the latest 1stMILE update 1.5.64, you will be able to accept CFNA 16-digit credit cards with a chip and expiration date.
- If you are a location that processes CFNA with 1stMILE Lite (used for CFNA Credit Card processing only), you will be unable to accept CFNA 16-digit credit cards with a chip and expiration date. If you would like to upgrade to 1stMILE Pro, please contact CFNA Merchant Support at the number below.
- Please explain to the customer the decline may be related to changes on their CFNA Credit Card account. Changes to CFNA cardholder accounts were communicated to cardholders mid to late January 2023.
- New CFNA 16-digit credit cards with a chip and expiration date are in the process of being reissued to customers to replace these 9-digit cards. The reissue will continue until June.
- Ensure your retail location(s) are also aware account lookup will not work.
Impact to your retail location(s):
If a CFNA cardholder tries to make a purchase with a 9-digit CFNA Credit Card that is branded Firestone, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works, you have the following options:
- Proactively ask what form of payment the customer intends to use; if it’s a 9-digit CFNA Credit Card that is branded Firestone, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works explain that the card will not work and the customer can:
- Use another form of payment until they receive the CFNA Credit Card that will replace their 9-digit Firestone, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus, or Wheel Works branded credit card.
- Open a new account for your store’s branded credit card.
- When the cardholder applies for your store card, the application will automatically be declined. Please call the CFNA Investigations team at 800.527.3536 and the application will be manually processed.
- The CFNA Investigations team will inform you if the application was approved or declined after the application is manually processed.
